Sights, sounds and solving problems all overwhelm Hannah, an eleven year-old girl from Idaho who is sent to Tucson for the summer to help her grandma who has multiple sclerosis.
In Tucson she joins the local swim team and makes new friends but is unable to contact her family. When her two best friends go out of town and her grandma suffers a relapse of MS, Hannah must use her sensitivities to solve her own problems and take care of her grandma.
Banana Summer is a middle grade novel of triumph in an overwhelming world.
